Draw 50 Beasties Details
From School Library Journal Grade 2 Up Ames' introductions "to the reader" and "to the parent or teacher" are nearly word for word out of his other books. The format is the same: six to nine line drawings per page, from first step to finished product. He encourages readers to take plenty of time and suggests very lightly sketching out the step-by-step drawings so that mistakes may be rectified. This one, with its popular subject of imaginative monsters and other nightmare inhabitants, will be a sure-fire circulator. Some readers may not, however, notice the play on words of some of the beasties names: i.e., "Imp Earie Al," "Melon Collie," "The Tooth Furry," "Satyr Ikkle," etc. A worthwhile purchase for all collection that can't keep "drawing books" on the shelf.
